CROSSwalk: Relay for Relief
The Gibson County Chapter of the American Red Cross has developed a relay event to raise funds and awareness of LOCAL Red Cross services in Gibson County. The "CROSSwalk: Relay for Relief" is unlike other relays of its kind, since walkers solicit pledges for miles walked using a pedometer. (A pedometer is a device that can be attached to an individual's belt loop, shoe, or sock and counts total steps walked.)
CROSSwalk members will walk (normal routine) between Feb 26 and Mar 26 and tally total mileage by dividing total steps by 3,960. Members will solicit sponsorships from friends, family, etc. for either per mile walked or a general donation. REGISTRATION IS FREE TO PARTICIPANTS!!! Individuals raising $25 or more in pledge support will receive a FREE T-SHIRT!
Teams should consist of no fewer than (5) individuals and should have a sponsor (i.e., churches, social groups, employers, businesses, etc.). Each team will also have a Team Captain.
The event is tentatively scheduled for February 26 - March 26, 2010 and will coincide wth the annual Heroes of Gibson County campaign. Awards banquet will be held on April Fool's Day--Thursday, April 01, 2010-from 6pm-8pm at the Gibson County Chapter (312 W State Street, Princeton).
For more information, please contact the Chapter Director at: dbothast@gibsoncountyredcross.org or call (812) 386-6300.
