1,000,000 PENNY CHALLENGE
On Wednesday, June 24, 2009, the Gibson County Chapter of the American Red Cross and Princeton's Old National Banking Center launched the "One Million Penny Challenge." The agencies hope to raise $10,000 in pennies by June 24, 2010 for Red Cross services to Gibson County.
All individuals of the community are encouraged to drop off spare pennies at the Old National Bank on Broadway Avenue in Princeton during normal banking hours. All one has to do is inform the teller the donation is to be made to the Red Cross and they will count and deposit your coins for you!
"Pennies are often considered America's most unappreciated currency. Like Red Cross services, the value of a penny isn't truly recoginzed until you are in a bind and need one. Even in 2009, one million pennies still equals $10,000--a donation that will go a long way in providing support for LOCAL Red Cross services!" said David Bothast, Executive Director.
Supporters may contribute in one of 4 ways:
- Submit donations to Old National Bank (Broadway Ave, Princeton)
- Submit donations at the Red Cross Chapter (State Street, Princeton)
- Submit donations in community collection containers (throughout the county; available in July)
- Submit donation ONLINE using a major credit card (click below)
We appreciate your continued support and are unable to sustain our vast services to those in need without your help!
